Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has asked the state House of Assembly to confirm caretaker chairmen and their deputies for local government once the term of elected chairman expires.
The governor made the request in a letter that he sent to Abubakar Suleiman, the Speaker of the Assembly.
Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu, the Majority Leader of the House, delivered the message during plenary on Tuesday. He noted that Governor Mohammed’s appeal came just after the terms of the elected local government chairmen and their deputies had expired.
Bala Ibrahim Pali, Muhammad Idris Bappa, Baba Musa, Bala Mato, Markus Bitrus, Emmanuel Barnabas, Muhammad Sabo Joji, and Ilya Isah Dagauda are the nominees for the governor of Alkaleri, Bauchi, Bogoro, and Dambam, respectively (deputy).
The following individuals are also nominated: Ado Maigoro (chairman), Yusuf Wakili (deputy), Nasiru Bakura (chairman), Salisu Dahiru (deputy), Muhammad Idris (chairman), Ibrahim Shehu Baba (deputy), Abubakar Nawaila (chairman), Abdullahi Idris (deputy), and Giade (deputy).
Other members include Yakubu Sadiku (chairman of Itas/Gadau), Abubakar Bello (deputy), Inuwa Moisha (chairwoman of Jamaare), Umaru Hassan (chairman of Katagum), Abdulhamid Datti (deputy), Muhammad Tukur Adamu (chairman of Kirfi), Muhammad Bashar (deputy), Salisu Hussaini (chairwoman of Misau), Sallau Garba Tel (deputy).
Other candidates include Babangida Muhammad (chairman) and Adamu Usman (deputy) of Shira, Samaila Wakili (chairwoman) and Salisu Adamu (deputy) of Tafawa Balewa, Danlami Garba Abubakar (chairperson) and Auwal Abba (deputy) of Toro, Ibrahim Ismail (chairperson) and Muhammad Sani (deputy) of Warji, and Abdullahi (deputy).
The House has decided to screen the nominees on December 20, 2022, a Tuesday.
