Bauchi Almsgiving Stampede Death Toll Rises to 7

The Bauchi State Police Command has verified that an additional three women have lost their lives as a result of a stampede during an almsgiving Zakat event, bringing the total number of deaths to seven.

The incident occurred at the headquarters of Shafa Holdings Company Plc along Jos Road on Sunday morning, where a large crowd, predominantly women, had gathered for the distribution of Zakaat items.

The distribution initially proceeded smoothly, but unrest among some individuals led to a struggle to enter the premises.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakili, provided an update on the incident, revealing that two women passed away at the Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, while the third woman died at home.

The names of the casualties were also disclosed. The Command assures the public that further details will be shared as they become available.
