Bassirou Faye inaugurated as president of Senegal

Bassirou Diomaye Faye, at the age of 44, has officially assumed the role of the fifth President of Senegal.

This makes him the youngest President in the country’s history. The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 2, in the newly developed town of Diamniadio, located near the capital city of Dakar.

The event was attended by various African leaders who witnessed Faye’s swearing-in. In front of the gathered officials, Faye solemnly pledged to fulfill his duties as the President of the Republic of Senegal, promising to faithfully adhere to the Constitution and laws of the nation.

He also expressed his commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the country’s territory, defending national independence, and working tirelessly towards the achievement of African unity.

The official transfer of power from outgoing President Macky Sall will occur at the presidential palace in Dakar.
