Comedian Basketmouth calls out Nigerian filmmakers for neglecting the country’s vibrant culture in their productions, urging a shift towards cultural representation.

Renowned comedian and filmmaker Bright Okpocha, also known as Basketmouth, has criticized some of his fellow filmmakers for failing to highlight Nigeria’s rich culture in their films.

The film star claimed that the majority of recent epic films fail to showcase the nation’s culture.

In an interview with Hip TV, Basketmouth stated that the filmmakers missed opportunities to positively highlight Nigeria’s culture.

He expressed, “I believe we still have a chance to get things right. However, we had an excellent opportunity to highlight our culture and many filmmakers squandered it. They wasted that great chance because I see epic films resembling stage plays.”

When I watched most epic movies, I found myself disappointed.

You missed out on a great opportunity, but let’s hope we still have another chance to seize it.

“I apologize, but only a handful of movies have truly impressed me so far. I believe there’s potential for us to achieve more.”
