Two teenage sisters were reportedly abducted by suspected bandits in the Guita community of Chikakore, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
This incident took place just eight days after members of the Chikakore village protested outside the office of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, highlighting the poor condition of the main route connecting their community as a contributing factor to the high rate of kidnappings in the region.
return at 11:25 p.m. on Sunday. It is believed that six gunmen were involved in the abduction, taking the 16-year-old and 14-year-old girls through the forests and hills of the area. A police source confirmed the kidnapping and revealed that the attackers also took three children of a man, but only kept the two girls and sent back the boy.
The abductors demanded a ransom of N30 million from the girls’ father.
According to a source, there has been a change in the approach of the gunmen. Instead of shooting before and during their operation, they now force their way inside. In this particular incident, the owner of the house, who is a Calabar man, managed to escape and seek help from the vigilante’s office and the commander’s house.
, by the time the commander could call for backup and reach his house, the gunmen had already fled. As they were leaving, they started shooting, which was different from their previous pattern.
The gunmen took three of the owner’s children, two girls and one boy, but later released one of the boys with a message demanding a ransom of 30 million naira for the safe return of the other two children.
The girls were taken while one of them was wearing a nightgown, and despite the mother’s pleas for them to allow the girls to dress appropriately for the cold, the gunmen beat her up and left with the girls as they were.
The police arrived at the scene after the gunmen had already left, and although the vigilante group tried to track them down, they were unable to find any trace of them.
It is worth noting that the man whose daughters were kidnapped is a prominent figure in security matters and has made significant contributions to the community. The FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, has been contacted for further details and is expected to provide an update.
