El-Rufai reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to enhancing security and protecting the lives and property of state residents.

According to the Kaduna State Government, from January to March 2023, 214 people were killed as a result of terrorist acts, racial tensions, and retaliation across the state.

In the first quarter 2023 security report he delivered to the state Security Council, state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan made this disclosure.

According to Aruwan, 746 people were abducted while 196 men, 14 women, and four minors were killed during the time period under consideration.

He added that with 115 deaths, Kaduna Central Senatorial District continues to be at the top of the list.

After learning of the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai urged the federal government to intensify security operations in the upcoming weeks across the seven frontline states of the North-West and Niger State, noting that the state governments couldn’t tackle the issue on their own.

The operation, the governor said, would stop the development of a risky lull for criminal outlaws to take advantage of, particularly during the period of changing administrations.

El-Rufai said, “We urge for an escalation of security operations over the next 39 days till the end of this administration’s tenure and beyond to ensure that the change of baton at the federal level does not result in a harmful law that criminal outlaws can exploit.

In the seven frontline states of the North-West region and the Niger states, “there is every reason to intensify and sustain simultaneous ground and air kinetic actions.”
