Bandits killed a community leader and member of the Fityanul Islam First Aid Group at his home in the village of Unguwar Mai Awo, Igabi local government area, Kaduna State. They also killed his nephew.
In the same neighbourhood near the well-known Maraban Jos on the Kaduna-Zaria road, the bandits also kidnapped four other ladies, including a nursing mother, during the onslaught, in which a large number of them fired intermittently.
A reliable source claims that the bandits broke into the neighbourhood early on Wednesday and carried out their heinous deeds, leaving the residents traumatised.
The story was confirmed by a second person, who identified himself as a youth leader in the region and went by the name Adam Unguwar Awo. He also said that the bandits had shot at random to scare the people away when they came to the town in large numbers.
He claimed that two more villagers had been hurt and transported to an unidentified hospital for treatment.
According to him, “The bandits assassinated Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi, a prominent member of the community and the chairman of the local Fityanul Islam First Aid club, and his nephew, Zakari Ya’u.” The robbers also kidnapped four additional ladies from the neighborhood; one of them was a nursing mother.
