Before releasing the remains of one Obadiah Ibrahim, who was abducted in Sabon Gaya at the beginning of October, bandits are seeking N10 million in ransom.
Kefas Obadiah, the victim’s brother, said that the bandits had already received N3 million in ransom.
He bemoaned the fact that his brother was kidnapped in early October while on route from Abuja to Kaduna in the area of Sabon Gaya and said that the bandits would not free him after receiving N3 million.
Kefas clarified that his late brother’s passing was reported on Thursday.
He said that the bandits had already wanted N200 million.
“They subsequently came down to N5 million and 3 motorcycles and later collected one motorcycle,” he claimed.
We lost contact with them after they returned a bike.
We made an effort to speak with them, but we were unsuccessful.
He continued by saying that when the negotiator called the bandits on Thursday, they (the bandits) claimed their brother had passed away. At first, the negotiator believed the bandits were making a joke, but when they persisted, they threatened to track the caller and come after him if he did not stop.
He said that the bandits claimed they killed their sibling in retaliation for the police death of their men.
Ibrahim stated that the bandits would not operate for free and that they are asking for N10 million to quickly release the body.
