Seven individuals who were previously abducted from Sagwari Estate in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have now been released.

The incident occurred when a group of bandits raided the estate, which is located opposite Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Dutse, at approximately 8 pm on the Sunday before last, resulting in the abduction of ten residents.

The abductors had initially demanded a ransom, and unfortunately, the failure of the family to meet their demands resulted in the tragic killing of one of the captives, Nabeeha. Among the victims who were murdered were Talatu Salihu, a 500 level student of Library and Information Science at Bayero University Kano (BUK), a staff member of a hotel in the state, Akpagher Joseph Terzungwe, and 13-year-old Mitchell Ariyo.

Following the killings, the kidnappers increased the ransom for the remaining victims and set a deadline for payment by Wednesday.

However, sources within the facility have now confirmed that the seven remaining victims, including a female hotel receptionist, a mother and her three children, as well as two young children, have been released and reunited with their respective families.

It is worth noting that both families have been relocated to an undisclosed location for their safety.

This positive development follows the recent release of the four remaining siblings of the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyah, who were also abducted earlier this year alongside their father.

The bandits had raised the ransom from N60 million to N100 million after killing one of the victims, and they had threatened to kill the remaining sisters.

However, as of the time of this report, the girls have been freed and have returned to their residence in Abuja, where the abduction took place.
