The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) claims that its non-kinetic tactics to restore calm in Katsina State are having an impact because numerous bandits and other criminal elements have turned themselves in to the authorities.
Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, the director of defence information, stated this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Gusau made this comment in response to a video clip posted on social media accounts showing soldiers battling robbers in Katsina State.
According to him, the DHQ was looking into the footage to determine its veracity.
He claims that the DHQ is aware of certain bandits’ resolve to turn around and surrender their firearms to the authorities, which is having a positive impact.
“The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, reassures Nigerians that the Armed Forces of Nigeria will use all legal means at their disposal to maintain peace and stability in our beloved country.
The DHQ assures Nigerians that its non-kinetic tactics for restoring calm are working, as evidenced by the surrender of many bandits and other criminal elements to the authorities.
All levels of government are urged to permit bandits who are truly eager to surrender to do so while the window is still open.
He said, “The DHQ is doing everything possible to restore peace and tranquilly throughout the nation and urge all citizens to maintain calm and obey the law.”
