forces of Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara State continued clearance operations in bandits’ strongholds on Friday in an effort to maintain recent victories recorded by forces in the North-West.
They recently cleared bandits’ camps in Zamfara and Sokoto states’ Mutuwa, Guda Tudu, Kawar, Dantayawa, Gidan Kare, Mahuta, and Gyado villages.
The troops, who approached the bandits’ strongholds with full might and agility, frightened the rampaging bandits, according to a top military source who desired anonymity. They fled their enclaves before the army arrived.
The troops, on the other hand, recovered four of the bandits’ operable motorcycles and destroyed their freshly created stronghold.
Similarly, troops from Operation Hadarin stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Faru in Zamfara State’s Maradun Local Government Area received convincing intelligence about bandits’ intent to attack Bagabuzu village.
The valiant military rushed to the region, engaged the armed robbers in a gunfight, and denied them entry to the villages.
Four bandits were killed in the encounter, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
The forces recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one FN Rifle, and 123 rounds of special ammunition while repelling the attack.
Meanwhile, Major General Godwin Mutkut, General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto/Commander Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, praised the troops for their tenacity, heroism, and perseverance in the fight against the terrorists.
He urged the public to provide credible information on bandits’ activities so that military can take preemptive measures to protect people and property.
