The election of Bala Mohammed as the governor of Bauchi State has been upheld by the Supreme Court. The Court of Appeal’s decision was affirmed, and the appeal by Sadique Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress was dismissed for lacking merit.
The appellate court had previously confirmed Mohammed’s victory in the governorship election held on March 18. The tribunal had also upheld Mohammed’s victory in an earlier judgment.
The Court of Appeal panel, consisting of three justices, unanimously ruled that each party should bear their own costs, without awarding any additional costs.
Justice Chidi Nwaoma Uwa, the presiding judge, read the judgment in the order of the appellant’s plea before the appeal court. The appellant’s first plea, which sought to nullify the election due to alleged improper filling of forms and booklets, was rejected by the court for lack of sufficient evidence.
