Bala Mohammed, the governor, swears in 24 new commissioners

Governor of Bauchi State Senator Bala Mohammed swore in the 24 newly appointed commissioners on Monday.

The Government House’s new Banquet Hall hosted the swearing-in event, and right afterward, the new appointees were given their respective ministries.

Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, the chief judge of Bauchi State, delivered the oaths of office and allegiance to the commissioners.

Mohammed said in his speech to the commissioners, “I am indeed very delighted to stand before you today on this auspicious and the finest moment of our political history as we converge for the swearing in ceremony of Commissioners who are members of Bauchi State Executive Council that will assist me in discharging the mantle of leadership during my second term as Executive Governor of our great State of Bauchi.”

To maintain the continuity and durability of the administration’s goals, the governor charged the commissioners with ensuring ongoing community engagement in each of their local councils.

He urged them to increase their dedication and efforts in support of the State’s further expansion and development.

Mohammed added that his determination to establish a credible and honourable administration guided his choice of commissioners, who all possessed sterling moral character and great integrity.

“Those chosen are intelligent individuals who are familiar with the issues and difficulties that the State and its citizens face. They are seasoned experts, technocrats, and trustworthy politicians,” Mohammed remarked.

The Governor also exhorted the commissioners to serve the people and reminded them to keep their word to fear God above all else.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed officials, Hon. Aminu Hammayo commended the governor for choosing them over a number of other eminently competent individuals from within the State.

Governor Bala announced their portfolios in further detail as follows: Work and Transportation: Ibrahim Gambo Galadima; Natural Resources: Bello Maiwada; Housing and Environment: Danlami Ahmad Kawule; Commerce and Industry: Mahmud Baba Maaji Abubakar; Higher Education: Dr. Lydia H. Tsammani; and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs: Ahmad Aliyu Jalam.

Others include Dr. Yakubu Adamu, who is in charge of the Ministry of Finance, Usman Danturaki Garba, who oversees information and communications, Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza, who oversees religious affairs and social reorientation, Mohammed Salees, who oversees youth and sports development, Abdul Hassan, who oversees culture and tourism, and Modibbo U. A. Ahmad, who oversees power, science, and technology.

Hajara Jibrin Gidado, who is in charge of women’s issues and child development, is also given a portfolio.

Faruk Mustapha is in charge of special duties and rural development; Hajara Yakubu Wanka is in charge of the newly created ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management; Hon. Aminu Hammayo was reinstated in charge of the ministry of budget and economic planning; and Mohammed Hamisu Shira is in charge of cooperatives and SME development.

The remaining individuals are Prof. Simon Madugu Yalams (agriculture), Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo (health), Jamila Mohammed Dahiru (education), Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki (water resources), and Amina Mohammed Katagum (land and survey). Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu was appointed to the newly established Ministry of Security and Internal Affairs.
