An Iranian investigation concludes that adverse weather conditions were the primary cause of the helicopter crash involving former President Ebrahim Raisi.

The investigative body has reported that bad weather was responsible for the helicopter crash in May, which resulted in the death of former President Ebrahim Raisi. This finding concludes Iran’s last investigation into the incident.

A helicopter, transporting President Raisi and his group of colleagues, crashed on a misty mountain in northern Iran. This accident caused the death of the president along with seven other individuals including Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, compelling immediate elections to take place.

According to a report by the Supreme Board of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, as reported by state broadcaster IRIB on Sunday, it was determined that the intricate weather and atmospheric circumstances characteristic of spring in that area were responsible for causing the helicopter crash.

According to the report, it was due to a thick mass of rising fog that appeared suddenly and caused the helicopter to crash into the mountain.

The report indicated a lack of evidence suggesting sabotage in either components or systems.

In the month of May, Iran’s army made a similar statement affirming that they did not discover any proof of wrongdoing in relation to the accident.

The primary reason for the May 19 helicopter crash, according to Fars news agency last month, was attributed to harsh weather conditions and violating security protocols by carrying two additional passengers which caused difficulty in ascending.

According to state media, the Armed Forces General Staff’s communication center discredited Fars’ report on the crash investigation as “entirely untrue.”

In 2021, the presidency was won by Raisi – a politician known for his hardline stance.

For a considerable time, he had been considered as the rightful heir to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who holds the ultimate power in Iran.
