The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Chairperson, Iyorchia Ayu, has been charged with anti-party acts by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.

Ayu worked for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, according to Ortom, thus he should come before a party disciplinary committee.

The governor responded to a statement made by the National Working Committee, chaired by Ayu, in which it suggested that the governor be reported to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee for suspected anti-party conduct.

Ortom demanded an explanation from the PDP National Chairman for why he lost his ward, local government, state, and voting unit during the elections.

The national chairman of the party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, should be the first person the party refers to the disciplinary committee, according to a statement by his chief press secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur.

“The national chairman lost his ward, local government, state, and even his voting district.

“As if that weren’t enough, there are strong indications that the national chairman was engaged in anti-party activities in Benue State by working for the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, just to get at me because of my principled stance against some of the decisions of the national leadership of the party,” the statement continued.
