Police officers shown in a viral video abusing an unidentified young guy must be detained right now, according to Rivers State Commissioner of Police CP Okon O Effiong.
On all social media sites since Monday morning, a video showing the cops who were seen punching and slapping an unarmed young guy had gone viral.
The officers have been identified, according to a statement made by Rivers Command spokesman SP Grace Iringe-Oko. But she didn’t mention their names.
At the Elibrada crossroads in Emohua, Port Harcourt, the policemen engaged in the unprofessional behaviour, according to the PPRO.
As a champion of human rights, she pointed out that the CP also gave the public the assurance that the Police Officers would be looked into in accordance with the current regulations governing the behaviour of police officers, emphasising that the proper consequences would be applied appropriately.
“The Command also reaffirms to the good people of Rivers State its unwavering dedication to upholding the law.
The message also urged people to report violations and abuses of human rights to the leadership.
