An Australian plane was forced to make an emergency landing following an engine failure mid-flight. Passengers were unharmed, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the incident.
According to a post by Qantas on X, a passenger plane departing from Sydney, Australia encountered engine failure on Friday. The aircraft circled before successfully making an emergency landing without incident.
A further report from Sydney Airport indicated that a grass fire had also broken out along one side of the runway.
It is uncertain if the two incidents were connected. The fire has now been contained, but some flight delays are anticipated.
Qantas did not reveal the number of passengers on its twin-engine Boeing 737-800, which was en route to Brisbane when an engine allegedly failed with a loud bang. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
“We recognize that this must have been a distressing experience for our customers, and we will be reaching out to all of them this afternoon to offer support,” stated Qantas Chief Pilot Captain Richard Tobiano. “Additionally, we will launch an investigation into the cause of the engine issue.”
