The statement released by the Presidency on Tuesday criticized the call made by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for President Bola Tinubu to resign due to the increasing incidents of killings and kidnappings in Nigeria.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, stated that Tinubu is actively addressing the security situation in the country, contrary to Atiku’s claims. Onanuga also highlighted that Atiku was one of Tinubu’s main rivals in the 2023 presidential election, and his statement may be influenced by his electoral defeat.
The Presidency emphasized that Tinubu had informed Nigerians about his private visit to France and has been closely monitoring the situation in Nigeria.
They also mentioned that Tinubu’s involvement in the inauguration of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage demonstrates his commitment to addressing important issues in the country.
The statement conveyed that the individual is consistently communicating with their officials and security leaders, instructing them to eliminate all types of criminal activities within the nation.
It further emphasized that if Alhaji Atiku genuinely cares about security matters and is not engaging in political manipulation, he would have been aware that President Tinubu is effectively addressing these issues and diligently striving to restore harmony across all regions of our country.
