Atiku Abubakar addresses recent comments by Bode George, stating that his current focus is not on the 2027 presidency, amidst ongoing political discourse.
Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential hopeful for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has recently stated that he is not currently focused on campaigning for presidency in 2027.
Atiku expressed that his present concern is the predicament of Nigerian citizens enduring starvation and scarcity brought about by President Bola Tinubu’s measures.
The ex-Vice President reacted to Chief Bode George, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), who suggested that he should not consider contesting for the presidency in 2027.
Atiku was advised by George to follow the lead of US President Joe Biden and abandon his plans to run for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027.
Atiku requested the PDP official to counsel Tinubu on reviewing his policies pertaining to Nigerians and abstain from commenting on Atiku’s political prospects.

According to Atiku Abubakar’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, the focus should not be on 2027 but rather on 2024 as that is currently his priority. He warns against jumping ahead of ourselves and putting “the cart before the horse.”
In the years 2025 and beyond, there is a pressing concern for Nigerians who are enduring extreme hardship due to the unsuccessful trial-and-error policies implemented by this administration.
President Bola Tinubu’s administration has become a tsunami that the average citizen and all Nigerians must survive.
Talking about the year 2027 at this point is lacking in sensitivity, as Nigerians have not witnessed any concrete advantages from the mandated period of 2023. In fact, their quality of life has significantly worsened across all domains.
The focus of Bode George should shift towards advising Tinubu to review certain misguided policies that have exacerbated the country’s poverty and divisions, instead of placing greater importance on 2027 politics.
