If Atiku wins the February 25, 2023, presidential election, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria stated that he is ready to face persecution but added that he will go to court.
Festus Keyamo, a spokesman for the presidential campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will be sued for alleged money laundering and other crimes.
“I’m headed to court.” It will not go away if they (the PDP) wish it away, Keyamo, a serving Minister of State for Labour and Employment, said on Channel Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.
A whistleblower named Michael Achimugu said in a now-viral video that Atiku had misused funds as vice president between 1999 and 2007 by using Special Purpose Vehicles.
Subsequently, Keyamo and the APC campaign council petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), and the Conduct of Business Bureau (CCB), giving them 72 hours to apprehend the former vice president on charges of corruption.
Later, Dino Melayo, a spokesman for Atiku’s campaign, called the accusations against his principal “fairy tales” and said the council wouldn’t talk to the APC about them.
However, Keyamo remarked, “When we get to court, we’ll find out if there are fairy tales.”
“When they brought up outdated documents from the US in the instance where they were opposing my principal, Bola Tinubu, I advised going to court. Go to court and emerge from hiding with your chest bare. Up to this point, they had fled. I’m headed to court. They can’t make this problem go away by wishing it away.
If Atiku wins the February 25, 2023, presidential election, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria stated that he is ready to face persecution but added that he will go to court.
“Whether Atiku Abubakar wins or loses—and I already know he won’t—I’m ready to endure persecution under his rule. “Even if he wins the election, I’m ready to go to jail and face charges,” he declared.
Additionally, he claimed that since the money was allegedly taken from the government, it should be returned.
“In this case, the Nigerian people deserve justice.” Whoever the individual is, they must be held accountable for recovering every penny that was placed into the Marine Float Account. Nigeria needs to get its money back. Public funds were paid into the account, he said.
