Atiku appoints Prof. Yusuf, the former head of the NHIS

Prof. Usman Yusuf has been chosen by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar as special adviser on community engagement to the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign council. 

Atiku instructed Prof. Yusuf to use his extensive contacts and knowledge to carry out the duties of his position in a letter that he personally signed. 

By virtue of this appointment, the Professor is mandated to provide advisory services on matters relating to community engagement by locating community-based organisations for necessary interface with local communities and regularly organising innovative programmes and events with pertinent local stakeholders in order to mobilise support for the PDP candidate and ensure victory in the election.

In order to spread Atiku’s objectives and ideas and secure their acceptance and essential support in the local communities, he is also tasked with developing close contacts with local community leaders, community-based organizations, and various gender and age groups at the grassroots. Yusuf served as the National Health Insurance Scheme’s former executive secretary (NHIS). 

Remember how an Ahmadu Bello University alumnus and professor of haematology-oncology and bone marrow transplantation said in an interview that Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, would find it challenging to campaign in the Southeast? 

He had published a number of essays endorsing Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate, and was widely regarded as a fervent supporter of the PDP candidate.
