Abubakar Atiku, the PDP’s disgruntled presidential candidate, and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate, have both decided to appeal the decisions of the Presidential Election Tribunal to the Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, immediately after the Tribunal dismissed their applications, they made their decisions known.

Atiku’s attorney, Chief Chris Uche, SAN, sought the Tribunal to make a copy of the judgement available to him so that his client could use his right to appeal in order to ensure prompt filing of their challenges to the Apex Court.

The former vice president, according to him, has ordered that an appeal against the ruling be submitted right now.

According to Uche, Atiku received a ruling from the Tribunal but did not receive justice, which is why he decided to file an appeal.

The primary attorney for Obi, Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, also revealed that his client had asked for the judgement to be appealed to the Supreme Court.

He questioned why the tribunal, which had previously ruled against live telecasts of proceedings, now permitted transmission of the verdict in real time.

In response to Atiku’s request, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, the chairman of the tribunal, promised that clean copies of the decision would be made available to them on Thursday so they could move through with their appeal to the Supreme Court.
