If elected, Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, has pledged to take severe measures against Borno’s insecurity.
The former vice president bemoaned the status of the Lake Chad Basin, the North East, and the state’s “exorbitant” tax structure.
On Wednesday, Atiku addressed PDP supporters in Maiduguri’s capital’s Ramat Square.
Earlier, he and his group went to see Alhaji Abubakar Garba, the Shehu of Borno, who urged Atiku to concentrate on a few things if he wins.
The standard bearer described in full his conversation with the king at the campaign site.
He asked that we solve four or five problems that are plaguing Borno.
“Restoring peace and security is the first. We will put Borno State back in order by the grace of God.
Second, he asked us to see to it that the Chad Basin development was restarted so that farmers could return to their farms.
According to Atiku, the Shehu also asked for help with local government units’ access to energy.
People are sick and weary of hunger, uncertainty, and unemployment, according to the PDP flagbearer.
The Wazirin Adamwa said, “Enough of pain and enough of too much taxes.”
Atiku expressed his gratitude to the locals for coming out to welcome the campaign train, which was attacked.
The PDP responded by alleging that the APC, which is currently in power, paid the thugs to ambush its convoy.
