Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president, has criticised the delay in the announcement of the results of the governorship election in Adamawa State.
Atiku sounded the alarm that the delay poses a threat to the state’s tranquilly since it has continued to fuel unwarranted animosity among the populace.
There was no need for the delay in making final statements about the results, Atiku stated when he spoke to reporters in his Yola residence on Monday afternoon.
According to Atiku, it wouldn’t matter if the Fufure LGA result was added to the total that had already been compiled.
He said, “PDP is leading after the votes were cast and posted on the INEC platform. The Fufore result has no impact, thus there is no need to delay doing the procedure, in my opinion.
Adamawa is a tranquil state, but INEC’s move has made it uneasy, said Atiku.

As a form of protest at INEC’s slowness to complete the collation process and maybe announce a winner, thugs turned aggressive and harassed residents and drivers.
After midnight on Sunday, INEC asked for some time to fix problems with the Fufore result before starting collation again by noon today. As of about 3 p.m., when this story was produced, INEC had not started collation again.
