Amidst speculation of a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman did not make an appearance in their Serie A opener against Lecce yesterday despite his heroics in the Europa League.
In May, Lookman cemented his status as an Atalanta icon by scoring a magnificent hat-trick that secured victory over Bayer Leverkusen – the reigning German champions. This triumph also marked the modest club’s historical first European trophy win since 1963, making it their inaugural major accolade of any kind.
Despite being 26 years old, the individual was not chosen to join Atalanta’s team for their upcoming league game in the south. This decision comes as Gian Piero Gasperini opted for other players to be included instead.
The interest of PSG has been brought to Atalanta’s attention by Lookman’s representatives, and this news has received extensive coverage in the Italian media amidst a flurry of transfer activity during the summer season.
