Ademola Lookman is pushing for a move from Atalanta to PSG, expressing his desire for a transfer. Learn about his motivations and the potential deal.

Amidst speculation of a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman did not make an appearance in their Serie A opener against Lecce yesterday despite his heroics in the Europa League.

In May, Lookman cemented his status as an Atalanta icon by scoring a magnificent hat-trick that secured victory over Bayer Leverkusen – the reigning German champions. This triumph also marked the modest club’s historical first European trophy win since 1963, making it their inaugural major accolade of any kind.

Despite being 26 years old, the individual was not chosen to join Atalanta’s team for their upcoming league game in the south. This decision comes as Gian Piero Gasperini opted for other players to be included instead.

The interest of PSG has been brought to Atalanta’s attention by Lookman’s representatives, and this news has received extensive coverage in the Italian media amidst a flurry of transfer activity during the summer season.

Last season, he scored a hat-trick in the Europa League Final against Bayer Leverkusen and will turn 27 this October.

In 2022, Lookman was acquired by Atalanta from RB Leipzig for €9.35m with additional bonuses included in the transfer fee.

He was born and raised in London, where he managed to score a grand total of 32 goals while providing 18 assists in his 79 competitive games for Atalanta. His most recent appearance was during their UEFA Super Cup match against Real Madrid on Wednesday which ended in defeat.

During January and February, Lookman scored three goals for Nigeria in their journey to the African Cup of Nations final, having already played 23 games for his country.

At the same time, Lazar Samardzic, a midfielder from Serbia has reached Bergamo to undergo his medical examination prior to joining Atalanta for 20 million euros ($22 million) after departing Udinese. Meanwhile, Teun Koopmeiners – one of last season’s stars is pushing for a transfer to Juventus.

Furthermore, Koopmeiners was omitted from the 23-player lineup for the Lecce game. Nonetheless, Atalanta has not yet reached an agreement with Juve who are regrouping their squad under new coach Thiago Motta.

Earlier this month, Atalanta had to sign Mateo Retegui from Genoa as a replacement for their injured centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca who suffered a severe knee injury. The two players are Italy teammates.
