Sen. Mohammed Musa’s Minna, Niger State residence, which represents the Niger East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, was stormed by armed men who were allegedly hired assassins.

It was reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator, who was in the state for the ceremony of the emir of Kagara, Ahmed Gunna, being crowned and receiving his staff of office, left the state and went back to Abuja.

The suspects, who were estimated to number 7, according to the locals, must have followed the senator from Abuja after learning that he was in the state to attend the coronation ceremony.

Armed intruders pushed their way into the home, but they were thwarted by security guards on the scene and a reinforcement squad from the Tudun-Wada police station.

“The Senator travelled to Abuja after attending the inauguration and presentation of the office staff to Alhaji Ahmed Garba Gunna, the Emir of Kagara.
But the assailants arrived at the residence.

But when they were defeated and captured by highly armed security personnel, their luck ran out. They are currently being detained in jail, according to a close ally of the senator.

When reached, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the public relations officer for the Niger State Police Command, verified the occurrence but clarified that it was not an assassination attempt.

He said four people had been detained on suspicion of impersonation and criminal conspiracy, while others fled when they saw the police response squad.

“The reality of the situation is that on 03/12/2022 at around 1900 hours, based on a distress call received, several unknown suspicious individuals entered the home of a Senator in Tudun-Wada, Minnesota, driving a Toyota Sienna with the registration number FKJ 814 GP.
Tactical troops were dispatched to the location right away by the Command. He spoke.

According to Abiodun, the suspects said during questioning that they were recruited by one Sherrif, who is now at large and is a rumoured whistleblower who supposedly claimed to work with an Abuja-based security organization.

“Akano, a teacher at a private school in Abuja, was invited by Sherrif.
Additionally, he invited Salisu, a plumber from Gwagwalada who provided a hammer and chisel for breaking into houses, Clarkson, an instructor at the private institute “INSMO” Abuja, Babagana Alhaji, and five other people who are still at large.

The police official said, “Suspects admitted further that Sherrif indicated there are foreign currencies and weapons stashed in the politician’s apartment, thus they travelled from Abuja to Minna for a supposed execution of search without any warrant.

Abiodun said that upon arriving at the home, the security guards assigned to the property suspected the phony squad and called for reinforcements. At that point, the anti-kidnapping team of the Command and police officers assigned to the Tudun-Wada Police Division were dispatched to the location.

He claimed that when the Police reinforcement squads arrived, a Toyota Sienna car was found, and the other suspects fled.

To conduct an investigation, the suspects have been brought to SCID Minna.
