A strike by employees of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) has caused a lot of people to be stuck at Lagos’ Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

There were reports that the strike on Monday caused a lot of domestic and international flights to be canceled.

Among other things, the protesting employees want raises in pay.

A source at NAHCO said that the bosses met with the staff on Sunday to stop a strike and reassure them that the problem would be solved quickly.

“We were told that the strike affected almost all of the NAHCO planes in Nigeria,” said one of the passengers who was affected.

They said that Qatar Airways was unable to land in Nigeria and had to return to their base in Doha.

Even the Qatar flight I’m on this morning landed and turned around to return to Doha because no one was there to manage it, according to Nwuba.

Because they were held outside to prevent a crisis and no information, announcements, or emails were issued to travelers, he claimed that people are angry.

NAHCO does check-in, boarding, and ramp services for a number of foreign airlines, such as Air France/KLM, Qatar, Ethiopian Airlines, Delta Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Turkish Airlines.

More flights will be grounded if the problem is not resolved, according to travelers.
