At an APC campaign event in Yobe, Buhari says, “I was an orphan and never knew my father”
On Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari made a shocking confession. He said that he was an orphan, didn’t know who his father was, and went to a boarding school for nine years to get the education he needed to join the Nigerian Army.
At an All Progressives Congress (APC, presidential campaign event on Tuesday at Damaturu’s August 27 Stadium, he made the announcement.
In an effort to emphasise the value of education, the president pleaded with the enormous crowd gathered in the stadium to make sure they sent their kids to school, emphasising that nothing in this world could be taken from them except the information they had attained.
The President promoted the candidatures of Tinubu and Shettima, claiming that a vote for both parties’ nominees would ensure the continuation of the nation’s success in the security, economy, and educational fields.
Buhari also used the campaign to highlight his victories in the fight against terrorism in the area, claiming that the APC-led administration is more motivated than ever to put an end to anyone who tries to divide Nigeria.
In Hausa, Buhari told the crowd how Boko Haram had hurt the people, their property, and the economy before the government stepped in and the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies killed most of the terrorists.
“Make sure you send your kids to school and instil in them the idea that nothing in this world is permanent, save for the knowledge you possess,” said Buhari.
“I was an orphan; I didn’t know my father,” he continued. I attended a boarding school for nine years, and the Nigerian Army recruited me due to for degree.
He instructed them, saying, “I want you to grow in your faith and do your best to protect the family and children that God has given you.” Keep that trust intact.
