As the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) finalized plans for a one-day statewide demonstration, the fury over the partial pay provided by the Federal Government has taken a new turn.
On Sunday, a representative of the ASUU National Executive Council verified the news.
Members will allegedly skip class on that day as part of the protest.
Days prior, rumours regarding the FG’s half payment of the lecturers for October circulated.
After the eight-month strike was temporarily suspended, lecturers went back to work.
“We’re demonstrating.
“Branches shall decide the date on their own.
The ASUU NEC member stated, “The government has to recognize that we are not casual employees.
The branch will put the decision into effect on Tuesday, according to a letter written by Dr Dele Ashiru, the chairwoman of ASUU’s University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter.
