ASUP calls on Alia to restore dismissed Benue Poly rector

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo Chapter, along with the Concerned Idoma Senior Staff Association, have jointly made an appeal to Governor Hyacinth Alia to reconsider the recent decision to remove Dr. Nathaniel Oche from his position as the rector of the polytechnic.

Dr. Oche, who assumed the role of rector in May with a five-year tenure, was unexpectedly relieved of his duties by the governor, prompting a strong reaction from the academic staff and senior staff associations.

During a press conference held in Makurdi after a congress meeting, the Chairman of ASUP Benue Polytechnic chapter, Comrade David Owuna, highlighted the irregularities in the institution’s management prior to Dr. Oche’s appointment, emphasizing the positive impact the rector had in a short period of time.
