Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State announced on Saturday that Asue Ighodalo, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in September’s gubernatorial election, would be victorious and replace him.
Obaseki guaranteed that Ighodalo’s governorship would exceed his own because of his intellect, integrity and discipline.
In Benin City, there was a meeting held with PDP leaders from every ward in the 18 local government areas of the state where the governor delivered an address.
The purpose of the meeting was to plan ahead for the governorship election scheduled for September 21st.
Obaseki states that the primary which resulted in Asue Ighodalo’s emergence is widely acclaimed as the most outstanding nationwide.

I express my gratitude to everyone who collaborated with the delegates in selecting him as our representative for this election, and ultimately, as my successor as governor of Edo State.
For approximately forty years, I have had the pleasure of knowing him. I am grateful to God for providing us with someone who undoubtedly will surpass my accomplishments – he possesses traits such as intelligence and integrity that were instilled in him during his upbringing by a highly disciplined mother.
As a result of all your hard work, I firmly believe that Asue Ighodalo will emerge as the Governor of Edo State by September 21st, 2024. Our party is the sole contender in this state and there’s no reason to fear – success at the polls is certain for us.
