On Monday, the Lagos State Police Command announced that unidentified attackers killed a police officer in the Lagos State neighbourhood of Ikorodu.
The murdered policeman’s rifle was taken by the attackers as they fled.
Three additional police officers were critically hurt in the attack, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesman in Lagos State, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
At Emuren Junction, on the nearby Itokin Road, Imota Police Division personnel were on patrol when they were attacked by the assailants.
According to local accounts, the attackers, who are thought to be errand boys for land speculators, attacked the police patrol squad, opened fire, murdered one person there and then made off with his rifle.
According to a local, “police raided cultists’ hideouts in Emuren, Shagamu Local Government Area of Ogun,” on Saturday.
According to NAN, representatives of land grabbing organisations have in the past used guns to target innocent persons in Ikorodu and its surroundings.
