Asari Dokubo, a former insurgent leader from the Niger Delta, has criticised President Bola Tinubu for not include him in his administration.
Asari was among Tinubu’s most devoted supporters in the run-up to the presidency.
The former militant even planned a pro-Tinubu demonstration in Port Harcourt at one point, and he threatened ethnic groups in the nation he believed did not support Tinubu’s administration.
After winning the presidential election, Asari Dokubo was reportedly seen visiting President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
But after that visit, the President forbade former militants from entering the Presidential Villa due to some supposedly disparaging remarks Asari had made to the media following his meeting with Tinubu.
Dokubo bemoaned in a viral social media video that he and his supporters had been abandoned after endorsing Tinubu’s candidature for president.
Additionally, he charged that the president was appointing people in a biassed manner, much like the late President Muhammadu Buhari, who, according to Asari, had core supporters that Tinubu does not.
“President Bola Tinubu is following an extremely hazardous route. And even we, his ardent followers, won’t be able to support him if he doesn’t change.

You decide whether or not you feel at ease right now. You are informed that you are free to do as you choose. It’s possible to perform worse than Buhari did.
“You think you can conduct one-sided appointments on your own, but Buhari conducted one-sided appointments. Recognise that you are not Buhari.
“You do not have the same kind of core followership as Buhari did. We are your core followers, if there are such things.
“Those who are currently in charge of scheduling appointments and making decisions were scared to support you. They wouldn’t have run for the House of Representatives and other offices if they weren’t terrified.
They genuinely thought you wouldn’t prevail in the election. A bird in the hand is worth more than thousands in the bush, so they said.
But we stayed with you and bet everything. You brought them here today so they could make fun of us. They used to be frightened to offend people, but now they are in charge.
