He has offered to assist and take the necessary steps to stop the evil by using his boys.

A prominent Niger Delta leader, Asari Dokubo, has charged that the Nigerian military is responsible for 99 percent of the country’s oil theft.

Following a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu in his office on Friday, Dokubo leveled the charge.

He said the President has promised to look into claims of massive oil bunkering by infamous naval commanders who are kingpins and has also promised to take decisive action to put an end to the dishonorable act.

Dokubo added that there are strong cabals operating out of Abuja and declared that these established powerful forces have now met their match and that a large crowd would soon be marching to Kuje.

He has offered to assist and take the necessary steps to stop the evil by using his boys.

According to the former militant leader, common Niger Delta residents who are frequently accused of oil theft are not to blame because they lack the resources necessary to carry out such sophisticated theft.

He asserts that the Niger Delta’s residents have lost their means of subsistence as a result of the criminal behavior of the oil thieves, which he claims constitutes a crime against humanity.

In addition, Dokubo claimed that the military’s claim that it lacks the weapons necessary to address insecurity is an attempt to blackmail civilians into giving up their weapons, which only served to strengthen the insurgency.

A response from the military has been requested by Channels Television, and as of the time this report was filed, one was still awaited.

The Niger Delta’s oil theft activities will be looked into, General Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Defence Staff, promised in October of last year.

While visiting the scene of the illegal insertions at the Trans-Escravos pipeline in the Yokiri area of Delta State, General Irabor made the vow alongside Mele Kyari, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

The General remarked, “This has opened my eyes, and I’m glad I came here.” We’re going to find the cause of this very sad situation. He had stated that an investigation would be conducted along the entire chain to determine who was responsible and when it occurred, among other details.
