The head of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Chief Asari Dokubo, and politician and humanitarian Tein Jack-Rich, both from Rivers State, have appealed for peace in the midst of the state’s current political unrest.
The two Niger Delta strongmen demanded support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration during their Friday contact with Dokubo, which was made during Jack-Rich’s courtesy visit to his house in Obuama, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers.
Dokubo expressed worry about the state’s political standstill and stated that while differences of opinion were common, the leaders shouldn’t keep going down the “path of bearing grudges against each other”.
He asserted that the people of Rivers must take advantage of Tinubu’s inclusive government and provide the president with all the necessary support for him to succeed, saying that they could not afford to be left behind at the federal level.
The warlord from the Niger Delta refuted allegations that he and the president were at odds, saying that even if he had some grievances, he had moved over them and would stick by Tinubu as he works to restore Nigeria’s honour.
“I am just Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s friend; I am not a typical politician.” “Those who are seeking appointments made sacrifices, and they look up to me to make sure their efforts are not in vain. I am not looking for appointments,” he stated.

Recalling that he and Tinubu had been friends since the early 1990s, Dokubo expressed total confidence in the president’s ability, leadership skills, and commitment to fairness and justice.
He urged Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the minister for the Federal Capital Territory, to work together to resolve any issues peacefully and guarantee that the people of Rivers enjoyed the benefits of democracy at both the federal and state levels.
“And we have to always keep moving forward and work for the good of Rivers, as our brother Jack-Rich said,” he said.
Prior to this, Jack-Rich praised Tinubu for his prompt handling of the state’s political problem.
He claimed that the president’s action had prevented more hostilities in the state and given the populace and investors hope and trust again.
As stakeholders in the Rivers issue, we have a stake in the region’s peace, economic survival, and political and economic participation.
“I’m pleading with the FCT minister and our governor to resolve their differences. Friends fight, parents and kids may argue, and they express such in their ways,” he stated.
