Asake, the popular Nigerian artist whose real name is Ololade Ahmed, has made history by becoming the first African musician to reach number one on Spotify’s global debut chart.
After his latest studio album ‘Lungu Boy’ reached the top spot on the chart, he praised his achievement.

Featuring guest appearances by Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee and Ludmilla across 15 tracks, the album set a new record on Spotify for African albums with the most streams in one day.
On the first day, the album was streamed 9.42 million times on the Global Spotify Chart.
With 870,000 streams on the first day alone, “MMS,” an album track that includes Wizkid’s collaboration set a precedent for Spotify Nigeria as the song with highest initial streaming rates.
