Asake admits, “I used to dance, but because of poverty, I ended up singing”
Nigerian musician Ahmed Oloade, well known as Asake, has admitted that his lack of financial resources drove him to seek a career in music.
The 24-year-old said that he first trained as a dancer but switched to singing since dancing didn’t bring him enough money.
In a recent interview with ABC News, he disclosed this.
The ‘Mr Money With The Vibe’ crooner claimed that his father’s early introduction to music was a major factor in igniting his passion in singing.
My parents used to listen to me a lot of classical music, he remarked. They like listening to music. My father is the sort of man that wakes up in the morning, smokes one cigarette, then turns on loud music.
I feel like I can truly sing now, at the end of the day. After that, I added some music. I might be able to bounce to the music since I can dance. Actually, I’m not really interested in being a musician. All I wanted was to dance. It has a wet feeling. Everything related to dance is wonderful.
However, after dancing, I also started to fall in love with having money. Then I began to consider, “Will dancing provide me with the kind of money I want?”
