As the sixth governor of Osun, Senator Adekeke renames the State

The sixth elected governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has taken the oath of office.

At the Osogbo City Stadium, Osogbo, Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was sworn in today, Sunday, November 27, 2022.

After receiving the oaths of office and loyalty from Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo, the State’s Chief Judge, Adeleke was sworn in as the governor of Osun.

Prince Kola Adegboyega Adewusi, the new Deputy Governor, was also sworn in by Justice Adepele-Ojo.

Dignitaries including Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate and former vice president, his wife Titi, his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the governors of Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, and Bayelsa States, as well as the minority leader of the House of Representatives, Ndidi Elumelu, were present for the swearing-in ceremony.

Traditional leaders, led by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, also attended.

Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has also changed the state’s name from “State of Osun” to “Osun State” and its nickname from “The State of the Virtues” to “The State of the Living Spring.”

Additionally, as of July 7th, 2022, Adeleke overturned all appointments made by the outgoing governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

All government bank accounts were instructed to be blocked by Governor Adeleke.

He said that the Oyetola administration’s activities beginning on July 17th will be reviewed.
