During the harmattan season, people in Jigawa State have been told to be careful with fire and other electronics.
In response to the fire incident at the Dutse NNPC filling station, the state commandant of the fire service, Ibrahim Gumel, issued the warning in an interview with reporters in his office.
He recommended that households put out all fires and turn off all lights and electrical devices before turning in for the night.
He bemoaned the fact that unchecked fires had caused the loss of several lives and valuable assets throughout the state.
Remember how the harmattan caused a couple to light a fire in their room to be warm, and how the Daily Post claimed that they died from smoke inhalation as a result?
Gumel also cautioned gas station employees to make sure drivers turn off their cars before pouring any fuel.
He urged residents to take precautionary measures in order to prevent fires in the state.
