A 43-year-old pastor named Clinton John has been apprehended in Ogun State for allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl in the Agbado area of the state.
The arrest was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, in a statement on Saturday. According to Odutola, the pastor had been engaging in unlawful sexual activities with the girl since 2022 when she was just 14 years old.
The victim disclosed to the police that the suspect had consistently threatened to harm her if she ever disclosed their illicit relationship to anyone.
The victim’s family reported the incident to the police after becoming suspicious that their daughter may have been sexually assaulted, as she had been treated for recurring infections. The police spokesperson mentioned that the victim displayed signs of fear that raised suspicions about her involvement in sexual intercourse, but the identity of the perpetrator was concealed.
The family eventually convinced their daughter to confess, and she revealed that Pastor Clinton John, aged 43, from the Mega World Healing Ministry, had been forcefully engaging in sexual acts with her since November 2022. The pastor, upon interrogation, admitted to the crime and confessed to repeatedly having unlawful sexual relations with the 16-year-old girl.
The victim has been provided with medical forms for treatment and examination.
