The Lagos State Building Control Agency’s General Manager, Gbolahan Oki, has reported an incident where agency officials were attacked by individuals wielding weapons and charms during a routine monitoring exercise in the Ikorodu area of the state.
This information was shared in a statement posted on LASBCA’s Facebook page. The assailant has been handed over to security operatives for prosecution. Oki expressed his condemnation of the increasing attacks on agency officials while emphasizing that the agency will not be deterred from its mission of ensuring safe and secure buildings in the state, regardless of intimidation or harassment.
Oki highlighted that these assailants not only obstruct the agency’s staff but also hold them hostage for extended periods of time. However, he commended the resilience and quick responses of the staff in overcoming these attacks without any casualties.
He emphasized the importance of public support in the agency’s efforts to prevent building collapses and urged citizens to collaborate in ensuring the safety and integrity of structures, ultimately creating a secure environment for all.
