Army: We do not work with Asari Dokubo’s private soldiers

The Nigerian Army has cut ties with the security force put together by former Niger Delta insurgent commander Mujahid Asari-Dokubo.

According to the Army, there was no cooperation between them and Dokubo’s private military firm.

Recently, the government in several states hired a private military company in Dokubo to operate with the armed forces.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of Army Public Relations, asserted that the appropriate body, which is legally required to licence such groups, was the only one who could determine the truth of Dokubo’s assertion.

According to a statement by Nwachukwu, the Nigerian Army never worked with Dokubo’s private company on any mission.

According to Nwachukwu, “According to that interview, Dokubo claims he is the owner of a private military firm that the Nigerian government has hired.

However, it must be made clear that the ex-militant or whatever private security company he claims to control is not a member of any cooperation or collaborative agreement with the Nigerian Army.

It is also necessary to note that, in contrast to Asari’s assertions, the Nigerian Army has never worked with Asari or the organisation he represents in any of the regions he listed or in any Asari Dokubo theatre of operations.
