Army releases hotlines for 36 States ahead of the 2023 election

In order to report any suspicious acts of violence during the upcoming general election, the Nigerian Army has approved a list of hotlines.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of army public relations, said this in a statement.

In a statement made on Tuesday in Abuja, Nwachukwu said the hotlines would provide the general people a chance to support security agency efforts to ensure free and fair elections nationwide.

He added that the hotlines were also made available for reporting the actions of the military sent in to ensure security for the election.

He claims that this is a part of the Nigerian Army’s effort to assist the police, the primary security force, in ensuring the peaceful, free, and successful conduct of elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria cites former Codes of Conduct and Rules of Engagement for Operation Safe Conduct that the Nigerian Army produced and distributed to its formations and Units.

The purpose of the guidebook is to act as a guide and guarantee that soldiers follow all legal requirements.
