Two alleged cannabis sativa sellers were taken into custody by Nigerian Army personnel from the 33 Artillery Brigade in Bauchi, together with 512 packets and four bags.
Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Egbe, the 33 Brigade’s commandant, revealed on Tuesday that the items and two suspects were turned over to NDLEA officers in Bauchi.
According to Egbe, the suspects were found in possession of drugs in an energy drink pickup truck with the licence plate AKD 654 XT Lagos and several improvised compartments inside.
“The items intercepted in the vehicles are four bags, 512 suspected percels of cannabis sativa, and 104 packs of soft drinks used to conceal the Cannabis sativa,” he stated.

In addition, N13,550 in cash, two padlocks, a driver’s licence, five ATM cards and four phones were found recovered from the suspects.
“On Monday, 23/2023 at 8:00 p.m., the suspected peddlers were apprehended by brigade operatives at Ringin Gani village along Jos road in Toro Local Government area of Bauchi state.”
Acting Garrison Commander Lt. Col. Abdulrahman Modibbo, speaking on behalf of Egbe, identified the alleged peddlers as Adamu Ali, 32, and Mohammed Idon, 42.
He asked NDLEA officials to always provide the brigade headquarters with the investigative results for documentation’s sake.
Egbe issued a warning to lawbreakers and those who support them, telling them to stop or else the army would take decisive action against them.
In response, Mr. Nimfa Joel, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics for the Agency, praised the army for its outstanding work and cooperation in the battle against drug misuse and trafficking.
He gave his word that the agency would look into the situation and bring charges against the suspect.
