So, the group asked the APC leadership and senators-elect for the 10th National Assembly to give their full support to any of the high-ranking senators from the North-West so that they could become senate president.
The Arewa Youth Council of Nigeria has urged newly elected senators to zone the Senate President’s office to the North West in the spirit of justice, fairness, and rewarding hard work before the start of the 10th National Legislature in June 2023.

Isah Abubakar, the group’s president, said during a news conference on Thursday in Kaduna that since the incoming president is from the south of the nation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership should only zone the North West for the third-place position in the nation.
He based their claim on the fact that the zone gave the APC the largest vote, totaling 2,884,132, or nearly 32% of the party’s total votes cast in the 2023 presidential election.
For the sake of harmony, peace, advancement, and societal cohesiveness, the Arewa youth leader believes that this performance ought to be duly honoured.
Thus, the organisation made a plea to the APC leadership and senators-elect for the 10th National Assembly to give the strongest possible backing to any of the highest-ranking senators from the North-West to win the position of senate president.
