The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu’s demand for unconditional release has been criticized by the Arewa Community in Southern Nigeria.

The community’s leader, Musa Saidu, responded to Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, by making the statement.

Buhari had been requested by Iwuanyanwu to release Kanu prior to May 29.

Saidu argued that Iwuanyawu’s call was incorrect.

He questioned whether Kanu’s release would put an end to the killings in the Southeast.

“Where were they when Kanu was ordering IPOB militants to kill innocent people in the South East,” Saidu said in a statement he signed.

Not only in the South East, but also in Port Harcourt, numerous members of the Arewa community were attacked and slain in cold blood. We have the statistics and even the images of those involved.

What assurance are they giving that the killings won’t continue if he is released, considering how loudly they are now calling for his release?

The Department of State Services, or DSS, has been holding Kanu since his unusual rendition from Kenya.

The IPOB leader was hauled back to continue his Biafra agitation trial before a Nigerian court.

The Federal Government has resisted releasing Kanu even though he was cleared of all charges and the Court of Appeal dismissed his case.
