The Arab League has strongly condemned Israel’s actions in Lebanon, labeling them a “brutal scenario” and calling for international intervention to address the escalating violence.
On Thursday, the Arab League denounced what it referred to as Israel’s “brutal scenario” in Lebanon after hostilities intensified between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.
Hossam Zaki, the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, warned on Thursday about “nearing a potential regional war” that could erupt as a result of increased aggression in Lebanon.
Zaki’s comments were made during an emergency meeting focused on discussing the Israeli campaign in Lebanon and its humanitarian consequences.
He cautioned that assaults on Lebanon and its people will fail to ensure security for anyone, instead escalating conflicts and deepening animosity.
Lebanon’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ali Hasan al-Halabi, informed the meeting that over 2,000 people had lost their lives and more than 10,000 were injured.
Al-Halabi noted that the recent outbreak of hostilities has resulted in over 1,200,000 people being displaced.

Israel was launching a ground incursion into Lebanon targeting Hezbollah and simultaneously carrying out strikes in Gaza that resulted in the deaths of dozens, including children.
The Israeli military reported that eight soldiers have been killed in the conflict occurring in southern Lebanon.
Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged fire nearly every day across the Lebanon border since October 8, 2023. This follows Hamas’ cross-border attack on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 Israelis and saw another 250 taken hostage.
In response, Israel declared war on the militant group in the Gaza Strip.
According to local health officials, over 41,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the territory, with women and children making up just over half of those fatalities.
