The North Central All Progressives Congress, APC, Forum has raised concerns about the legality of Abdullahi Ganduje’s position as the National Chairman.
They argue that his continued occupation of the office could lead to legal and unwanted liabilities for the party, particularly regarding the Edo and Ondo State primary elections conducted under his leadership.
The forum’s counsel, Ayuba Abdul, announced on Tuesday that they have filed a lawsuit before a Federal High Court in Abuja challenging Ganduje’s appointment in 2023.
The North Central APC Forum is the claimant in the suit, with Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) named as the defendants.

The lawsuit seeks to have Ganduje’s appointment as the APC National Chairman set aside, alleging that the party failed to follow the procedure outlined in its constitution.
The forum argues that the position should remain in the North Central region and highlights the importance of promoting internal democracy, representative democracy, discipline, and the rule of law within the party.
The forum’s prayers include a declaration that the APC is bound to uphold the practice of internal democracy and the provisions of its constitution.
They also argue that the National Convention of the party, as stated in the APC constitution, holds the final authority.
The North Central APC Forum’s legal action reflects their concerns about the legality of Abdullahi Ganduje’s appointment as the APC National Chairman.
They believe that the party should adhere to its constitution and ensure that the position remains within the North Central region. The outcome of this lawsuit could have significant implications for the party and its future activities.
