The discharge of Hon. Williams Amuka, the representative for the Igbo Etiti West Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, has been overruled by the Appeal Court in Lagos.
The state election petition tribunal had already dismissed Amuka of the Labour Party in response to a petition filed by the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party.
Judge Bolaji Yusuf led a three-judge panel that unanimously overturned the ruling.

The tribunal validated Amuka’s certification by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the official winner of the House of Assembly election held on March 18 after finding merit in his appeal.
Chibuzor Ezike, one of Amuka’s attorneys, expressed gratitude to the Court of Appeal for upholding justice.
“The Court of Appeal’s decision is commendable, and it has brought to a close the protracted legal journey that began right after Amuka won his primary election,” he claims.
The Labour Party in the state Assembly has recently suffered because of decisions rendered by the Court of Appeal. With fourteen members, LP held the majority compared to PDP’s ten. In the state constituencies of Udenu and Ezeagu, the LP lost two seats to the PDP last week.
