The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) leadership called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu on Monday in response to the growing unrest in the southeast area.
Kanu, the national head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group that is prohibited, has been detained by the DSS for years.
The APGA leadership blamed the ongoing detention of Kanu for the unrest in the area in a statement released to news reporters in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, and signed by its National Youth Leader, Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu.
We request President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use his good offices to secure Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release, according to the statement. For the benefit of the people of South Eastern Nigeria, if for no other reason.
The South East’s nasty occurrences are allegedly being caused by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s continuing incarceration, according to those who are committing them. This inevitably means that once their leader is free, they will stop carrying out their awful deeds in public.
“Deviants have also taken control of the previously known nonviolent IPOB’s activities. Assassins, kidnappers, murderers, and other criminals have used the South-East’s unrest over Nnamdi Kanu’s imprisonment to their advantage. According to him, some politicians have hid under the uproar to kill their rivals.
“Young people are particularly impacted. They are most frequently hired. They have become heavily involved in the commission of evil and have turned to drugs in order to function. Drug addiction and selling have also become the norm among young people in this area, and the economy of this area has been seriously impacted.
